Ethylene glycol

Ethylene glycol Product Description

【Product Introduction】

Ethylene glycol, with the chemical formula (CH₂OH)₂, is a colorless, odorless, sweet-tasting viscous liquid and is the simplest diol. Its manufacturing process is mainly divided into the ethylene method and the coal-based synthesis gas oxalate method. The former is produced by ethylene oxidation to generate ethylene oxide and then hydrolyzed, while the latter is synthesized from coal as raw material through gasification, conversion, purification and hydrogenation.

【Product Features】

High Purity

Ethylene glycol has extremely high purity, usually reaching more than 99.9%.

Excellent Chemical Stability

Ethylene glycol has good chemical stability. It is not easy to react with common acids, alkalis and other chemicals at normal temperature and pressure.

Low Freezing Point

Ethylene glycol has a low freezing point of about -13℃. This feature allows it to remain liquid in low temperature environments and will not lose fluidity due to freezing, ensuring the normal operation of equipment.

High Boiling Point

Ethylene glycol has a high boiling point of about 197.3℃. The high boiling point makes it difficult to vaporize and volatilize in high temperature environments.

【Product Application】

Polyester Fiber Industry

In polyester fiber production, ethylene glycol is mainly used to react with terephthalic acid to generate polyester. It can provide hydroxyl groups, participate in polymerization reactions, form long-chain polyester structures, and give the fiber good strength and elasticity.

Automobile Antifreeze Field

As a key component of automotive antifreeze, ethylene glycol lowers the freezing point of water and raises the boiling point, so that the coolant does not freeze at low temperatures and does not boil at high temperatures, effectively ensuring the stable operation of the cooling system of the automobile engine.

Cosmetics Industry

In cosmetics, ethylene glycol is often used as a moisturizer. Because of its hygroscopicity, it can absorb and retain moisture in the air, prevent dry skin and hair, and keep the skin moisturized.

Brake Fluid Manufacturing

Brake fluid production is inseparable from ethylene glycol. It can adjust the viscosity of the brake fluid, ensure that the brake fluid can stably transmit pressure at different temperatures, and ensure that the vehicle brake system works sensitively and reliably.
