Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on October 20 shows that in the third quarter of 2025, the capacity utilization rate of industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide was 74.6%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the second quarter, but a decrease of 0.5 percentage points year-on-year. Among them, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry had a utilization rate of 72.5%, the petroleum and natural gas extraction industry 91.2%, and the chemical fiber manufacturing industry 85.6%.

From the perspective of three major categories, in the third quarter of 2025, the capacity utilization rate of the mining industry was 72.5%; the capacity utilization rate of the manufacturing industry was 74.8%; and the capacity utilization rate of the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry was 74.3%.

Looking at major industries, in the third quarter of 2025, the capacity utilization rates were as follows: coal mining and washing industry at 68.9%, food manufacturing industry at 70.1%, textile industry at 77.2%, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry at 72.5%, non-metallic mineral products industry at 62.0%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry at 80.1%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry at 77.8%, general equipment manufacturing industry at 78.9%, special equipment manufacturing industry at 75.5%, automobile manufacturing industry at 73.3%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry at 74.9%, and computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry at 79.0%.
